Power Based Cycling Classes - Computrainer

TRAIN SMARTER NOT HARDER!

If you’re going to make time for training, why not get the absolute maximum benefit out of that training time? We have classes for beginner, intermediate and racing cyclists! No road bike? No problem! Bring your mountain bike with a trainer tire and you are good to go!

During the winter months when the road conditions and darkness force you indoors you can still get in quality training sessions. Beginning Monday October 24th Ascent Performance Lab will offer a variety of coach led computrainer classes for those wanting to take indoor training to the next level.

We utilize a science based approach to assist athletes of all abilities to attain their fitness goals. For those new to the Computrainer system, it is a precision ergometer measuring wattage, heart rate and cadence. It enables the cyclist to become stronger and more efficient, improve power and speed and learn how to properly train to improve performance, technique and fitness. Why is power important?
  • It is a direct measure of the rate of work produced by a cyclist. If there
  • is a certain amount of work to be done, such as riding up a hill, the faster you get it done the more power it takes.
  • It is an excellent gauge of training intensity.
  • Information is immediate and doesn't require developing new sampling skills.
  • Power is also more sensitive and responsive to intensity changes than is heart rate.
  • All cyclists will do a training zone determination session to determine their threshold values and the corresponding intensities that should be used during their workouts. This will enable the coach to customize a program that targets your fitness level.
Using the 8 computrainer multirider set-up, cyclists are linked through a central computer system, allowing them to race against each other, or at their own pace AND on their own bike.

“Whether it is the increased time efficiency, the consistent conditions, or the ability to gauge things like your cadence, power output and spinning efficiency, training indoors on your bicycle might just improve your cycling more than any other part of your training regimen”.
